The issue has now been fixed server-side by Gaijin. However, Gaijin have confirmed to PlayStation Universe that the enabling of cross-play only happened as a side effect of enabling cross-play with the game’s PC version (which is officially allowed on both consoles), and that though they had tested to make sure there wasn’t cross-play between the game’s PS4 and Xbox One versions, a few “corner cases” slipped through the cracks. Recently, some users had been reporting that cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One versions of War Thunder was actually possible, something that neither Gaijin, nor Microsoft or Sony seemed to be aware of. Vehicular combat MMO War Thunder launched on Xbox One earlier this year in June, after having already been on PS4 and PC for several years.
